The known compounds will be characterized by 1H NMR and 13C NMR and compared with the literature.
For new compounds, the identity will be characterized using:
- [α]D (if chiral)
- mp (if solid)
- 1H NMR
- 13C NMR
- IR
- MS
- HRMS
Purity will be characterized using one of the following:
- CHN analysis (± 0.4% for each element)
- Distillation followed by GC
- Column chromatography followed by HPLC under 2 different conditions
- A copy of the 1H or 13C NMR spectrum
